A Better City

Greetings to everyone, it’s been a while i wrote on this platform, but let us deal on this today.

Thank you for your audience.

I sat behind my window gazing at life and what it is made of, I felt this Vacuum in me.
“What is life without Jesus?, then I reflected on this, if only in this life we have our hope in Christ we are of all men most miserable. This is why? Here on earth we deny our selves somany things to embrace the cross and the manifold blessings of his crucifixion. We never know what God has in store to them that love him, John chapter 14, Let not your hearts be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me, in my fathers house are many mansions if it were not so I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you, so that when I come, I will receive you unto myself and where i am there also shall you be, this is it…. This is the Joy because, we know that though we are persecuted and tempted in many ways we are not dismayed, yet we are troubled we are not abandoned, Jesus got all his children and our Mansions awaits us. Soon Olowogbogboro will turn things around and the captives of the mighty will be delivered and the sons and daughters of Zion shall possess their possessions. This is our Authentic belief and we cannot be shaken.

But now we desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called our God: for he hath prepared for us a city.

Versions and Updates

Life is all about versions and updates.
Been a long time I wrote a post, maybe cos the inspiration was not there, or the eagerness for creativity was far away, but I know all these happened because my work, took a greater part of my time. So it’s around 1:30am, then I decided to go through a friends blog… Fountainhead…. A great writer without a pen, so I decided to share this with you, this is what I saw and decided to share, enjoy!!!
This quote is very popular at my workplace & it’s often used when projects are derailed because of opinions and perspectives. However, to me this line means much more than projects in soup or puns at work. This statement resonates with my free-spirited & independent soul which trusts that you cannot be married to assignments & faceless tasks. Life should not be a straight road and you mustn’t drive on it like it is one.
In 2008 I was completing grad school majoring in Psychology & was so sure that I wanted to study my beloved subject further. I was undeniably sure that this very subject allows my ever spinning mind both calmness & consideration. However, standing in 2017, I realize I took a complete U-turn for my instincts although the admiration for the subject never faded away.
In 2011, then in 2013 and then relentlessly from 2015 to now the restlessness kept growing each day. It haunted me so much that I didn’t know where to hide. And that’s when in mid-2016 I took a conscious call to address this demon. I started asking questions, consulting my friends & became more cognizant of what I want to achieve.  My journey has thus just started towards an update.
This rant is both catharsis & a confession. This rant is for all those headless chickens, which have passions neatly wrapped & packed in old suitcases buried away from the prying eyes of judgment and cynicism. This rant is to empower & make anyone who has felt directionless better. This is to cushion them from the tsunami of insecurities & judgment errors. This is to let them know that many like us exist in the real world with unreal, utopian dreams of making it big on a road that doesn’t exist & we will have to construct it brick by brick.
Well, if this continuous hammering isn’t loud enough & comes sporadically then I would suggest a vacay to the nearby beach but if it haunts you like it does to me then I am sure sooner or later you will surrender. You will have that day when you will stop caring of the consequences & start thinking of the life you can build with your passion. I am sure; you will start fishing for people, avenues and openings to live your dream.
So, if you are nodding to all of this & the realization has taken years to knock at your door; read on to know how you can welcome it in.
Understand what STOPS you-
As beings we are anchored to the notion of stability. The electric fence of permanence – finances, societal judgment, peer pressure & failure keep us within the known boundaries of exploration. The moment we think beyond the fence the fear of electrocution hits us. Our mind gets clouded with resistance to change & because of the anxiety it brings our mind blows us hard, ‘are you an idiot to leave something you have worked hard for years only for a notion?’
So, it becomes very important to list down your concerns and how it impacts your current living state.
Explain to your family and close friends what it means to be caged. Let them know how you feel unaccomplished in what you do. A word of caution, do not share your deepest with the shallowest. These are entities in your life which are near but not really dear. They will hear but not listen and in sometime will label you as confused and incompetent. This will stunt your growth & make you feel pitiful.
SIT & WRITE it down-
Next step would be to gather your energies & write down what you see yourself doing five years from today. This will clarify and condense arbitrary, unsystematic and muddled webs. You will be able to select necessary trains of thought and merge the rail roads to a station.
Once you know the end goal, the means will magically start appearing. The universe will help you meet people & lead to conversations which align with you. Here, it is important to let yourself soak & submerge in the volley of likelihoods. During this the love and support of your faithful one is essential. He/she will help you not only emotionally but also will understand your reservations & give you that essential space and time to think.
Post the road map; comes the daunting challenge of quitting. Quitting is the mother of challenges. As it entails ‘leaving’ it indicates ‘wasting.’ This makes us feel irresponsible. But, the thing to be kept in focus is, ‘you don’t want what you have.’ Once you drill this statement in your head you will not feel bad of losing everything that comes with calling quits. It’s like holding to a dress you will never wear. Just vacant that spot & move!
If you survive this emotional roller coaster, you must applaud yourself. You my friend are an inspiration! Be proud of yourself & your ability to not whine but ACTUALLY act.
Celebrate your journey of being a strong, thinking person who admits to being in a pursuit of happiness.
Like they say, you are not a tree so please move if you don’t like it!
Best of luck!

Plenty shades of grey

In a world of chaos I like a bit of order and good grammar. I spell out my text messages correctly. I punctuate my Tweets. It’s a way of wrangling some verbal control over the world.
Imagine two self-help pieces: “How to help someone having a seizure”, and “How to help someone have a seizure”.
Same subject, different meaning. One helpful, one illegal.
It’s all about precision, and clarity. Where would we be without it?
Having said this, the world is full of nuance. Some people can’t cope with this. “I don’t do grey areas,” they say, proudly, “you know where you are with black and white.”
Which is true. You do.
But it’s just another way of saying “having no definite opinion on these hugely complicated things scares me,” or “makes me feel inadequate,” or, “makes me anxious,” or “harms my status as a person who has opinions on stuff.”
These people, in my experience, are often not fans of pro-cycling. Or if they are, they’re doing it wrong.
Because pro cycling is a sport with both rules, and etiquette. Two separate things. Both fluid.
Some rules must be strictly adhered to (no engines in bikes, for example), while others are more flexible; you can get a tow from your team car for a bit, if you’ve had a crash, or been unlucky in some other way, or are racing in your home country, unless public opinion creates a backlash, in which case you’ll be dressed down and chucked off the race.
Etiquette is equally slippery.
For example, if the wearer of the leader’s jersey crashes, the rest of the peloton wait for him, because to take advantage of a moment of bad luck isn’t the done thing. But if the leader leaps in to a field to publicly deal with a bowel movement (Tom Dumoulin in the recent Giro d’Italia), then you apparently carry on racing.
But then in the post-race interviews you deny you were racing, obviously.
Just to cover yourself in case the bowel-movement-in-a-field etiquette has changed and you didn’t get the memo.
The list of grey areas goes on. And all this stuff also goes through the filter of how popular you are as a rider, and how many favours other riders and team bosses may or may not owe you.
And then, of course, there’s doping.
I don’t want to go too deeply down that particular rabbit hole largely because I have a job to hold down and a family who I like spending time with. But you can’t ignore the fact that performance enhancement creates the biggest grey area of them all.
If you need black and white, you’re basically stuffed.
If you see an exceptional performance and instantly deride it as implausible, impossible, and performance enhanced, then you’ve just wasted five hours of your life glued to a bike race that you conclude is meaningless.
If you watch an exceptional performance and instantly proclaim it clean, beyond dispute, then if that rider turns out be a doper at some later date you’re a fool.
So the solution is to exist in the grey areas.
To watch cycling in a permanent state of uncertainty. Willing to believe what your eyes see, and equally ready to face the prospect of a subsequent positive drugs test.
Which may seem fundamentally unsatisfying, but is preferable to the spectacle of many other sports (tip: probably more so the ones where people are very well paid), where there are no drugs in the sport.
Until someone test positive, in which case they are a bad person and are punished. The rest of the competitors can then get on with competing in a sport where there are no drugs.
Until the next person tests positive.
Isn’t it better to learn to live with good, honest grey areas?
That’s how the rest of the world works.

Dare to dream.

So today I woke up to a video on Stephen Curry, by the way the Golden state Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 in the series to win the NBA finals, this was after last year’s defeat and incredible comeback by the Lebron James led Cavaliers. This year was the year of the Warriors and they did not disappoint going unbeaten while at it. But that is not my point of discussion today As I heard the speech and how he was always the little guy but did not allow his size get to him and how he had to go through three months of reconstructive training to get to where he is now, that to me was passion and persistence and determination, and he said something in his closing speech that inspired this writeup, always try to be the best version of you, stay humble.

These ladies and gentlemen is my charge for today, in this time and age of uncertainty, of chaos, of recession and all, it is really hard pursuing your dream and utilizing your talent, when all you want to do is find your next meal, but people it is time to dare to dream, it is time you pursue that dream and act on it, would it be hard? I am not here to sweet coat it YES!!! Would there be times you would feel like giving up? YES!!! Would there be times when it seems the world would be against you and obstacles would emerge? YES!!! But would it be all worth it? YES!!! You heard me right your gift and goals if you are truly passionate about it would let you sit before kings and not ordinary men. People it is time to dust those boots, those pens, those drawing pads and start all over, it is time you invest in your dreams, take that course, go for that training and achieve greatness. We are all born with greatness in the inside of us, but very few tap into it. I would mention notable names to drive home my point.
Anthony Joshua the World Heavyweight Champion in Boxing, few years was caught doing something illegal and when he eventually did try to follow his dream, his own country rejected him that he was not good enough, but that did not make him relent and now he is recognised by the world because he never stopped believing, fighting and daring.

The news of Kechi Okwuchi’s singing prowess in America’s got Talent; one of two Sosoliso airplane crash suvivors in Nigeria recently went viral. To be honest the ill-fated accident was one many wanted to forget in Nigeria and we had heard little or nothing about the survivor until then, at least for most of us, she said Music (Her gift) was the only thing that kept her going, through all the surgeries and pain, she kept on singing, kept on utilising her gift, she didn’t allow the obstacles, the pain and life’s somewhat disadvantage get to her and now she is celebrated all around because she dared to dream when she could have sought pity. What is your excuse people?

The Social Prefect Tour is another young lady doing amazing things in the Tourism industry, I am proud to say I worked with her briefly, she did not allow the 9-5 Job stop her from pursuing her dreams and even when obstacles and storms raged she kept doing what she believed in, and now she is beginning to get the recognition she truly deserved. She had the dream and passion, dared to dream, went for it and now she is being celebrated.

And finally every Nigerian at this point knows about the #HalleluyahChallenge by Nathaniel Bassey, yes it was inspired by God, but I wondered if he felt it was going to catch this much fire in the hearts of many, maybe he did as a man of God but he dared to follow through and now it is changing lives because he didn’t keep it to himself but harnessed his God-given gift and we all are better for it.
I have taken up writing and my blog seriously this year, even though it has been tough, sometimes I feel like it is not worth it, but the lives of this people are inspirations to me and I would always look back on this post whenever I feel that desire to quit, because if this people had quit when the going was tough we wouldn’t be celebrating them now.
I am as encouraged as any of you today and I would not quit even if it is because of one person, I would not and you shouldn’t because trust me, whether you see it or not someones life is being affected by you and you can decide if it would be a positive one or a negative one…. Stay Winning and reach your apex

There is a tomorrow.

We are each of us tested from one day to the next. Sometimes small battles, sometimes larger wars, but our hearts, bodies and minds are capable of withstanding the barrage of life’s many sorrows.

If you falter one day, there is a tomorrow. If you are wronged in some way, there is a tomorrow. If you cannot stand the thoughts raging in the maelstrom of your ruminations, if the demons taunting you with bitter words refuse to relent this day then close your eyes and go to sleep. You can start again tomorrow.

Don’t be ruled by the shadows in your mind. Cast aside the ghosts of resentment, of self doubt and of self loathing. Don’t let your yesterday determine your tomorrow. Give yourself the time and the opportunity to begin again.

Withstand the storm, stay strong and use that dark day to make yourself someone more experienced, someone more capable, a person of great worth, potential, determination and strength.

Be stronger than the person you were the day before. Be greater than the person you were the day before. Allow yourself to become a better you.

All that stands in the way of becoming this person, is you.

Having problems is not a problem

Venomous snakes were being

ferried from Africa to Europe in a

plane. Unfortunately, the person

who packed the snakes forgot to

lock the box in which the snakes

were put. Once the plane had taken

off and responding to the

movement of the plane, the snakes

found their way out of the box.

Passengers in the plane could see

various snakes on the isle. They

screamed, some fainted and the

brave ones sought refuge wherever

they could within the plane.

The airhostess ran to the pilot to

inform him of this scary incident.

The pilot quickly informed the air

controllers on the ground.

“We are very sorry”, says his boss.

“We forgot to lock the box where we

put the snakes. They are indeed

some of the most poisonous snakes

in the world. So where can I land?

Please advise me before passengers

are bitten”, asks the shaky pilot.

“No do not land, stay there for a

minute, let me think”, advises the

boss. Surely, this sounds like stupid

advice to the impatient pilot. But he

has to follow the orders. A minute

is too long for someone faced with

such trouble he thinks. But he has

to follow orders.

After a minute, the boss contacts

him. “At what altitude are you

flying? He asks.

“300”, says the pilot. “Go higher”,

advises the boss. “But the snakes

will….” Before he finishes his

sentence the boss bellows “I said go

He complies.

“Now what’s your altitude?” Asks

the boss. “500.66”, answers the

shaken pilot

“Go higher”

“But sir…”

“I said go higher captain.” He

By now the snakes are all over the

plane, even one male member of

the cabin crew collapses. It is

unbearable. A few have been bitten

“Now captain, keep on going

higher”, says the boss. The pilot

complies and keeps on going higher

and higher. “Now what’s your

altitude?” asks the pilot. “I am

reaching 1200”, replies the pilot.

“Now I am on 1200”, he says

“Now stay there. Tell the cabin crew

that at this altitude the snakes are

now harmless. They can just pick

them up with their hands and

return them to the box and this

time they should not forget to lock.”

advises the boss.

This is true. One cabin crew

member tries holding one snake. It

is numb and harmless. Soon it is a

game within the plane with

passengers, some for the first time

holding snakes in their hands and

returning them to the box. “Look at

this black mamba, it was really after

me. Now I can even throw it and

catch it like a ball”, says one

This was the end of the seemingly

dangerous ordeal in the plane. Even

those who had fainted were

Now what is the lesson of the story?

In this life, the snakes or problems

will follow you. However, there is

need for you to increase your

altitude in prayer. And surely, there

is a certain point in praying that

you reach and this is the point

when even the most seemingly

unconquerable problems are

defeated; they lose power. In the

Name of GOD.

to You, When my heart is

overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock

that is higher than I. – Psalm 61:2

Double Standards

Did your parents agree to our wedding?”
“Why not?”
“They were skeptical about the morals of a girl who was living in.”
“Didn’t you tell them you insisted?”
“Even if I did, it wouldn’t make any difference.”
“Why not?”
“How could you give in to my demands?”
“I love you. I cannot refuse you anything.”
“If you can’t stand up to me, how will you stand up to the world?”
“Don’t you love me?”
“I do.”
“I cannot go against my parents’ wishes.”
“If you cannot stand up to them, you don’t deserve to stand by my side.”
